Private lessons can be booked by a single or couple. Groups of more than 2 and up to 6 students who want to take lessons together must book private-group lessons. • Continuing students are eligible to buy discounted 5-hour packages for $200 ($40/hour) or book from class to class at the $50/hour rate.

First Dance Wedding Package
Choose between two of the most popular social dances for your wedding:
COSTS:
Our basic 5-hour package of private lessons provides a minimal level of competence in your chosen dance. It's enough to "get through" a first dance, but not much more than that. Most couples want to do more than the bare minimum, so we offer a 10-hour discounted package for wedding couples that compresses enough learning to legitimately get you up to the intermediate level of competency. Combined with a bit of practice squeezed between other preparations this will be enough to do justice to your big day without breaking into the honeymoon budget.
PLEASE NOTE:
We do not teach choreographies or routines. They are a poor choice for weddings.
A wedding dance should be approached the same way you approach public speaking: you should not memorize every word of a speech, instead you should make very general point notes about topics you want to hit, and improvise the rest. By learning to social dance you are learning how to improvise within the framework of a mutual language of physical motion. This makes social dancing inherently robust and adaptable to mistakes or unforeseen hiccups, taking the pressure off and letting you relax, which in turn reduces mistakes.
Some dance studios push wedding choreographies because it is in the financial interest of the studio. They are not in the interests of the couple. Choreographies are a waste of time and money, because the "skills" you learn are disposable and can only be used with that particular song and situation. Furthermore choreographies are brittle and inflexible. If you make a mistake or gap-out from performance anxiety (a probably scenario) the entire choreography could unravel. When the inevitable mistake happens you are going to get flustered and have to improvise, so it makes far more sense to learn how to improvise from the beginning by learning to social dance properly. This is why we strongly advise all couples who are not already professional performers to steer clear of choreographies, and instead learn the proper skills of social dancing.
